The Community Planning Studio Course (CPL631) in the Fall 2004 semester will focus on the proposed intermodal transportation hub at T.F. Green Airport in Warwick, Rhode Island. The project will provide the second-year graduate students in the Community Planning Program with an opportunity to study the challenges and prospects of the proposed intermodal transportation hub in Warwick. The project would provide a unique platform for the graduate students in Community Planning Program to learn about planning for intermodal transportation facilities and transit-oriented development, using the case study at T.F. Green Airport.
Intermodal
The project will focus on the proposed intermodal transportation hub at T.F. Green Airport in Warwick, Rhode Island. Specifically, the project will identify the prospects and challenges facing the development of the intermodal transportation hub. The project would offer policy recommendations to address the key challenges facing the proposed intermodal transportation hub.
Task One: Inventory of existing conditions and issue identification.
Task Two: Identify the best practices in planning and development of the intermodal transportation facilities and transit-oriented development.

The project will be prepared by the Community Planning Studio course in Community Planning Program at URI. A group of seven graduate students will work on the project.

Lessons learned from this project will be shared with key stakeholders involved in planning and development of the proposed intermodal transportation hub at T.F. Green Airport.
The project will be beneficial to the training of graduate students in Community Planning Program in the area of intermodal transportation planning and transit-oriented development. The partnership between the URITC and the Community Planning Program will add to the capacity of the University of Rhode Island in the area of transportation planning and policy. The involvement of URI graduate students in this very important transportation project will demonstrate the commitment of the University and URITC in addressing key transportation issues facing the State of Rhode Island in the 21st Century.
